Veterans Independence Day Parade by Larry Eiben, LOW Veterans Club The Lake of the Woods Veterans Independence Day Parade will be held July 2. This is a special day because there is some history related to this date. Did you know that many Americans believe we should celebrate Independence Day on July 2? The reasoning behind their beliefs was because on July 2, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence. However, it was two days later when its delegates adopted the Declaration of Independence drafted by Thomas Jefferson. For this reason, from 1776 until the present day, July 4 has been celebrated as the birth of American independence with festivities ranging from parades, concerts, and family gatherings. The LOW Veterans invite all clubs and businesses to participate in the celebration of Independence Day. Please contact Larry Eiben, 540-972-1847 or larryjeiben@gmail.com for more information. I would like to thank the businesses that have provided fi nancial support for our event (Mama’s Restaurant, Car Doctor, Getty & Associates, Locust Grove Vet Clinic and LOW Fun Bowling League). Don’t delay – give us a call and sign up to provide the community with an exceptional day of celebration.
