Lake of the Woods (LOW), a gated community in Locust Grove, VA is located in the northeastern portion of historic Orange County, VA approximately midway between the town of Culpeper and city of Fredericksburg on route 3. Just a fifteen minute drive, off of route 95, exit 130, Lake of the Woods was developed in the late 1960’s. Our Journey to Lake of the Woods, Virginia
The Ostlund family roots at Lake of the Woods, Virginia dates back to 1970, when Ozzie and Margaret Ostlund first purchased a lot, just when the Boise Cascade company began development of the community. Initially an investment, the lot was sold and the Ostlund’s first home was a small weekender cabin on Meadowview Rd. This home provided the backdrop for the many memories the Ostlund family would make on weekend visits and longer extended summer outings with their many friends, family members and people they came to know at Lake of the Woods. When Oz and Margaret decided to make Lake of the Woods their fulltime home they moved to a lakefront property on Madison Circle, a place where their grandchildren would come to enjoy the many activities available at this wonderful community.
